(13) Parish Registers, Early Wills, Tax Records, Census Records
The early parish registers for Kilsby from 1538-1706AD were still in existence in the late 1800s - but sadly they were lost soon afterwards, and have not survived. Parish registers for Kilsby from 1706 onward have been preserved in the form of Bishop's Transcripts only. A complete database of these parish registers from 1706-2000AD has been transcribed in electronic format, and can be searched electronically for the benefit of those tracing their family trees.
An electronic transcript has also been made of the complete text of all wills for Kilsby people between 1500AD and 1700AD; although this does not replace the missing parish registers for these years, it does give a surprising amount of detail about Kilsby inhabitants during this period.
Likewise, electronic transcripts have been made of the Lay Subsidy Roll of 1525AD for Kilsby, and of the Hearth Tax returns for 1662AD and 1674AD. All of these early records help to some extent to fill the gap left by the missing parish registers.
